PLDD(Percutaneous Laser Disc Decompression)

PLDD is a minimally invasive procedure for treatment of herniated lumbar and cervical discs. It involves insertion of a micro-needle under X-Ray guidance into the disc nucleus. A fiber is then inserted through the needle and used to deliver laser energy to the nucleus. The delivered laser energy is vaporizing the material and reducing internal pressure, relieving  back pain.

The Cherylas 980 may be used for PLDD procedures. The 980 wavelength offers equal absorption by blood and water, enabling efficient and precise tissue ablation and coagulation as a multi-purpose surgical tool.
